Villa Carlotta

The charm of Como Lake, nature and art.

Art, nature, architecture and scenery: these elements find themselves intertwined at Villa Carlotta, built at the end of the 17th century by the “marchese” G. Clerici, who wanted to combine an imposing structure with the sweetness of an Italian style garden. In the middle of the 19th century rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas were introduced to the garden, as well as many other plants and trees from all over the world. It is this incredible multi-coloured botanical variety, the plain white of the building and the blue of the lake that in spring and summer make of Villa Carlotta a little quiet breathtaking paradise. A lot of famous artists and writers found inspiration admiring the statues of Canova, Thorvaldsen, Hayez displayed in the villa and absorbing the enchanting atmosphere of this place. This is an ideal venue for your symbolic or civil ceremony and a magical way to start your wedding day amongst these ancient gardens, set beside a stunning villa, looking out to the view of the lake.
